CICRA Launches a New e-Mag on Cybersecurity, Violates Copyright En Masse

CICRA Holdings, which has become the de facto place to go to if you want to get an ethical hacking qualification, has launched something called Cyber Security Monitor, a week e-mag that’s free for the first thousand subscribers. It’s hosted over at emagazine.circra.lk and basically curates news from all over the world.

How good is it? You can’t really tell without signing up, which I did. In its current state, it mostly copy-pastes articles from site like Reuters, which I’m sure is a violation of copyright law. (Yes, CICRA, “Republication or redistribution of Thomson Reuters content, including by framing or similar means, is prohibited without the prior written consent of Thomson Reuters.”)

Back to the e-mag. It curates stuff, weekly, from sources all over the world, not necessarily Sri Lanka; while useful, it’s still basically a slower Hacker News that you actually have to sign up for. However, it does have great potential, especially if it becomes a lot more Sri Lanka / Asia-focussed and eases on the copyright violations a little bit.
