We’re always on the lookout for new gadgets or gadgets that already exist that we haven’t heard about. So what better way to showcase these hidden gems than by simply writing about them? All of the gadgets featured here are less than Rs. 10,000/- because we feel that is the sweet spot and they are also available in most stores in Sri Lanka. So without further ado, here are some fantastic gadgets we found, along with where you can find them too.
Starting off our list we have a Power Bank by Samsung. What makes this unique is that apart from being a regular power bank to your smartphone or device, it also has built in fast charging capability. So if you have a Samsung fast charge compliant smartphone, then you can essentially charge your phone quicker, compared to a regular charger.
The Samsung AFC battery pack packs a 5,200mAh battery which should be enough for 2 full charges on most smartphones available today. If you’re in the market for a new Powerbank and your phone supports Fast charging, you can go ahead and give the Samsung AFC Battery Pack a try. Just try not to mistake it for your phone as they tend to look similar.
The Logitech MK270R is a wireless keyboard and mouse. Simply plug in the nano receiver to your PC or Laptop and you’re good to go. You can even use it on your OTG compatible smartphone. The keyboard has a number of features such as a row of shortcuts keys on the top to launch your favorite apps. The mouse is standard with a left, right and middle mouse button.
In terms of wireless range, you can use the Logitech MK270R from a distance of about 10 feet in a straight line with minimum signal loss. We wouldn’t recommend it for competitive gaming however, as the reflexes of it is slow compared to wired keyboards. However, if you’re looking for a wire free environment for your workstation, then the Logitech is a good place to start. The Keyboard runs off 2 AAA batteries and the mouse is powered by 1AA battery. The unit has a 3-year warranty.
The Transcend StoreJet 25H3 is a USB 3.0 compatible portable hard drive which you can use to backup and transfer all your important data. Wrapped in a rubber shock proof case, the drive can withstand falls of around one meter or so but we urge you not to drop test it. In the event you carry out regular backups, the Transcend StoreJet 25H3 1TB Portable Hard Drive also has a One Touch Auto-Backup button. For added security, you can also encrypt your confidential information with 256-bit AES file & folder encryption via the included Transcend Elite software.
A revamped and relaunched model of the original, the Nokia 3310 (2017) has all features that you loved with the original feature phone and a few new ones. You now have a 2.4” color display along with 16MB of internal storage expandable via a MicroSD slot. You also have a 2MP camera eith an LED flash, Bluetooth, an FM Radio and also an updated version of the wildly popular Snake game. Oh, and you also have a standby time of 30 days.
The Sennheiser CX3.00 earphones have been in the Sri Lankan market for quite a while now. I’ve used a par for some time and I must admit, for that price, there are very few other alternatives available that sound just as good. The earphones have a good thump in terms of bass and have equally good mids and highs as well.
We recommend keeping your equalizer at its default settings in order to best enjoy these earphones. They also need a bit of burning in so after about a week or two of constant use,it will warm up and sound better. The Sennheiser CX3.00 comes with a convenient carrying case and also has 3 sizes of rubber tips so that they can fit in your ears snugly. They are not noise cancelling, but they do tend to block out ambient sound so be aware of listening to them while on the road because of oncoming traffic.
Well there you have it. Those are some of the fantastic gadgets that we found for this month. Stay tuned for more updates as we bring you more gadgets within the coming months.
