Hackathons are nothing new to us. In fact, attending them is akin to our second nature. Despite the fact that we attend our fair share of hackathons each year, each hackathon brings out its own style of ideas and innovation from those taking part. HackX 2k17 is one such hackathon.
Organized by the Department of Industrial Management at the University of Kelaniya, HackX is an Inter-University Hackathon revolving around Information Technology & Innovation. Held successfully for the year 2016, HackX is back once again for the year 2017 with HackX 2k17. The event will take place on the 15th and 16th of September 2017.
Just to give you as brief background about HackX, last year, HackX 2016 was held on the 23rd and 24th of September at the Dialog Headquarters Auditorium. After shortlisting quite a few number of applicants, a total of 15 teams got the opportunity to go on to the final event.
The teams were awarded a cash prize of LKR 50,000/-, LKR 30,000/- and LKR 20,000/- respectively. The Winner of the Guru special award received a cash prize of Rs. 10,000/-.
Well, that’s the easy part. All you need to do is to be an undergraduate of any state university or any higher educational institute. You will also need a team of anywhere between 3 to 5 members. These members can represent only one team. Once all that is done, you will have to come up with a novel product or software. Do bear in mind that once proposed and if accepted, you cannot change the idea but your final product can have additional features.
You can register for HackX 2k17 by clicking this link. Applications for registrations opened on the 1st of August 2017 and will continue all the way through to the 31st of August 2017. From there, the shortlisted teams will be announced on the 10th of September 2017 and the finals of HackX which is an overnight event will take place on the 15th and 16th of September 2017 culminating with the Award Ceremony for HackX 2k17 on the 16th of September 2017.
We at ReadMe will also be attending HackX 2k17 so if you see us, do come over and say Hi.
