In the past, Huawei wasn’t the first name that came to mind when looking for a new phone. Today, it’s one of the top brands in the world. Here in Sri Lanka, Huawei is a popular brand we hear a lot about. In fact, Huawei has just announced that they will be bringing their latest flagship phones the Huawei P9 and P9 Plus to Sri Lanka next week.
Practically everything one expects from a flagship android smartphone and then some. If we had to pick the most interesting feature of the phone, it would be the cameras. The Huawei P9 packs two 12MP rear cameras that were built in partnership with Leica, the iconic German camera manufacturing firm. One is a traditional 12MP camera that shoots in colour while the second 12MP camera next to it, shoots in monochrome. Working together, these cameras help your pictures look brighter and clearer than ever before.
In addition to the interesting rear cameras, the Huawei P9 comes with an aluminium body for a premium feel. It also packs a 3000mAH battery, which should last a full day. If it doesn’t the Huawei P9 also supports fast charging with its USB Type-C port to save the day. Despite packing two powerful cameras, the Huawei P9 is only 6.95mm thick and packs a powerful 5.2-inch 1080p IPS screen that’ll make your movies, photos and games look stunning.
To help you store all your pictures, videos, and large apps, the P9 comes with a generous 32GB of storage. All this is powered by an octa-core Kirin 955 processor designed by Huawei. According to Huawei, this new processor helps increase performance by 100% and deliver better graphics compared to the P8.
Well, the best way to describe the P9 Plus is that it’s the bigger brother of the P9. The Huawei P9 Plus replaces the screen of the original P9 with a bigger and brighter 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display. Additionally, the P9’s display will also be pressure sensitive, supporting Huawei’s Press Touch technology. With such a display, there is a need for a larger battery. That’s why the Huawei P9 Plus packs a larger 3,400mAH battery.
With all the features it’s packing, Huawei expects the P9 to be among the most celebrated flagship smartphones in the country. But this is the first of the many products they plan to launch here in Sri Lanka. Henry Liu – Country Head, Huawei Device Sri Lanka noted, “We are entering an exciting period including superior smartphone experience coupled with dominant smartphone technology through Huawei. We are focused on bringing Sri Lanka more advanced technologies and innovations that are aligned with their lifestyle.”
Huawei has yet to announce the exact price of the P9 and P9 Plus in Sri Lanka. However, the launch date isn’t far off. As always, once the news has been announced, you’ll find our review with all the details. Until then, stay tuned.
