The Global Startup Awards gives the spotlight focus to web and technology based startups across 25 countries around the world, with more regions being added over the coming years. Each individual regional award rewards their own respective ecosystem, connecting each country to create a stronger bond.
The SAARC Global Startup Awards is one such event. Comprising of the SAARC countries (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, the Maldives, Pakistan and Sri Lanka), the Global Startup Awards is made up of 3 phases: National, Regional and Global. Each season of these awards begins with nominations. The nominations begin at the National phase. All aspects of the startup ecosystem are covered across over 10 categories. While nominations are open, startups and individuals can nominate any other startup in any category, if they feel that they are deserving of that award.
National finalists are chosen from a panel of national ambassadors. A total of 5 finalists will shortlisted from each category according to a list of given criteria collected from nominees. These national nominees will then be announced from their respective countries. From there, public voting will be open on a national level to vote for your favorite startups. Once public voting draws to a close, each of the participating SAARC countries will have their own National Finale.
From there, public voting will begin from the SAARC level. Once voting is closed, the grand finale and the Global Startup Awards SAARC 2017 Conference, which is the largest celebration of entrepreneurship in the SAARC region will take place. The conference will consist of influencer talks, workshops, exhibitions, hackathons, startup awards, startup battles, corporate pitches, investor pitches and many more components.
