Sri Lankan chapter of “Open Web Application Security Project” hosts inaugural meeting

The Sri Lankan chapter of  “Open Web Application Security Project” (OWASP) had their inaugural meeting at the Colombo Security Meet up on April 4, 2012 at 99X Technology.  The main focus of the meeting, which was widely attended by IT specialists were on improving the security of application software.

 

Prabath Siriwardena, Software Architect & Chair, MC Integration Technologies, WSO2 made the first presentation on Ethical Hacking. This was followed by a session titled “Security in Your Own Way,” which was presented by Rosita De Rose, Process Lead – 99X Technology. She spoke extensively on ISO 27001:2005 and of its significance in the IT security sector.

 

The aim of the Sri Lankan chapter of OWASP is to make application security visible, so that people and organization’s can make informed decisions about true application security risks. All IT specialists are encouraged to attend as participation is free and all materials are available under a free and open software license.
