App Contest 2015 Organized By The University Of Ruhuna Is Happening Tomorrow

The IEEE student branch of the University of Ruhuna together with Dialog Ideamart will be organizing an app development competition. Aptly titled “App Contest 2015”, the main objective of this competition is to encourage those undergraduates who are interested in the field of software engineering, enhance the imagination of students, apply theoretical knowledge in practical problems, learn and use sophisticated software. And by far mist importantly, to implement team work.

The event is scheduled to be held on the 29th of July 2015 (tomorrow) at the Ruhuna Engineering faculty premises. It should also be noted that the competition is open for any student who is registered under the University of Ruhuna. As for the teams, a total of 2 undergraduate students are allowed per team to complete in the contest.

Entrants are allowed to have their own idea/topic of their innovation. Entries may not contain any elements, which are subject to third party rights, in particular copyrights, other than elements owned by the entrant. Any elements that appear in the Entry must be entirely original, created by the entrant, or be in the public domain.

Entrants should develop a Desktop and/or Mobile and/or Web application by using any software platform.

Once development has been completed, the applicant will be required to carry out a live presentation and demonstration not exceeding a time frame of 10 minutes with followed by a 5 minutes Q&A.

More than 30 applicants have been eligible to participate in the competition from which the Judge panel will select three competitors for the awards of the first, second, third places and also the “Emerging coder”. The prizes awarded in order will be Rs. 15000/=, Rs. 10,000/= and Rs. 5000/= respectively and an award for the Emerging Coder.
