Coming soon: WSA Global Congress 2013

In approximately 2 weeks, Sri Lanka will have the honour of hosting a very prestigious event: the WSA Global Congress 2013, which will be hosted here in Colombo thanks to the efforts of ICTA in partnership with SLT.

In case you’re wondering what the WSA Global Congress is: it’s a fast paced 3 day event that will present the best mobile and web applications and offer their developers a global audience, and discuss the role of e-Content for the global economy, environment, government, healthcare, education and mobility. As for where and when the conference will be, the inauguration will take place at the Presidential Secretariat, better known as the Old Parliament Building on the 23rd of October, with His Excellency Mahinda Rajapaksa, The President as the Chief Guest and Hon. Minister of IT and Telecommunications Ranjith Siymbalapitiya as the Guest of Honour.

Following the inauguration, the conference will be officially opened on the 24th of October, at The Kingsbury hotel where the speakers will be giving their speeches and the various workshops of the conference will be held at.

On the 26th of October, which is the final day of the conference, after a few sessions in the morning and following lunch, the conference will be shifting to the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre, to give the attendees an opportunity to take a look at Infotel 2013. Finally the part which everyone’s most anxious for, the grand awards ceremony, will take place in the evening at the Mount Lavina Hotel with a gala dinner.

Professor P. W. Epasinghe, Chairman of ICTA and Senior Presidential Advisor commented on the conference saying, “The developers will demonstrate the richness and diversity of e-Content around the globe. They will show that in an almost entirely connected world, it takes quality content to fulfill the promises of the information society.”

SLT Group CEO Lalith De Silva also shared, “Content is key for ICT Development in a country, and we are delighted to see the world’s best ICT Content developers and their products in Sri Lanka.”
