In case you were wondering, the purpose of this series is to highlight some noteworthy gadgets that we found whilst roaming around Colombo. They set themselves apart from the rest and would make an ideal gift for your loved ones. So without further ado, here are this month’s fantastic gadgets and where to find them.

Orico USB 3.0 Hub

The first gadget on our list is also the most useful. If you use a desktop PC or a laptop and find yourself running out of USB ports, then you can get yourself one of these. As the title says, the Orico W6HP4-U3 is a USB 3.0 hub.

Made out of sturdy plastic, the Hub packs 4 high-speed USB 3.0 ports and has a connecting USB 3.0 cable that is around 1.5M in length. Since all the ports are USB 3.0, you can connect multiple USB 3.0 certified storage devices and copy data to and from simultaneously at very high transfer speeds. Ideal if your work revolves around copying lots of data at fast times.

SteelSeries Rival 100 Gaming Mouse

The SteelSeries Rival 100 is a gaming mouse aimed at both professional and casual gamers. The mouse comprises of 6 buttons (left, right, 2 thumb buttons, middle and DPI switch) which are configurable via the SteelSeries Engine. The mouse also features customizable RGB lighting with a number of effects all configurable through the software.

Despite being tagged as a gaming mouse, the SteelSeries Rival 100 can be your work mouse as well. It has a sensitivity of upto 4000 DPI at max and 250 at lowest which makes it ideal for people who work at low mouse sensitivity such as designing and drawing. Audio Technica is a manufacturer of high-end audio products. One such product or gadget is the Audio Technica M20X. These headphones can be used by both professional recording artists as well as the budding musician and anyone who’s looking for a really good pair of headphones without destroying your wallet. the M20X is made from high-quality plastic with a metal bracket.

The earcups are contoured to fit your ears perfectly so you can wear them for prolonged periods of time with no discomfort at all. The sound signature or tone of these headphones is completely flat. This means that any audio files you play will be reproduced in their original format with no additions to low, mid or high frequencies at all. So you hear things the way they were meant to be heard. Samsung Galaxy J1 Nxt Prime

Samsung’s Galaxy lineup certainly has a plethora of models to choose from. The Galaxy J1 Nxt, aka the Samsung Galaxy J1 Mini (certainly a mouthful), packs a 4″ 480*800 TFT screen along with a Quad-core 1.2GHz CPU. In terms of storage, you’re looking at 8GB internal which is expandable via a MicroSD slot and 1GB of RAM for your multitasking needs. The Galaxy J1 Nxt also has a 5MP rear camera and can record video at a resolution of 1280*720.

It also comes out of the box with Android 5.1Lollipop This would be an ideal purchase if you’re on the lookout for a cheap secondary phone that can carry out your normal everyday tasks as well.

Logitech F710 Wireless GamePad

This one is for all the gamers as well. If you’re into games like DMC (Devil May Cry), FPS games like Call of Duty, Battlefield and Overwatch or a Racer on the track in Need for speed or Project Cars, the F710 gamepad can handle all of these games, wirelessly. The gamepad comprises of two analog sticks and two sets of buttons and triggers on either side of the gamepad which can be configured either via your game or the Logitech software.

It also has a 4 switch D-Pad on the left and 4 buttons on the right for more controls. There’s also built-in vibration feedback so you know the moment you get hit or you crash into a wall. With a maximum range of around 10 feet in a straight line, the Logitech F710 is also compatible with the PS3 though you lose the vibration feedback.
