In January 2013 GDG organized a line of workshops including Monetizing Apps with AdMob, Introduction to AdSense & Google Display Network (GDN), and Advanced session on AdSense & Google Display Network (GDN). On the 4h of March GDG organized the Google Summer Of Code 2013. This motivation camp cum open source event is a global program that offers students stipends to write code for open source projects. Since it’s inception back in 2005, the program has brought together over 6,000 successful student participants and over 3,000 mentors from over 100 countries worldwide, all for the love of coding. Best of all is that more source code is created and released for the use and benefit of all. And to our surprise Sri Lankan University of Moratuwa tops the list from 2005-2012.
The GSC Meet Up this year at SLIIT Malabe had a participation of more than 150 undergraduate students. Unfortunately some had to be turned back due to the lack of space.
