Recently, Huawei opened a brand new Experience Store in Colombo at Liberty Plaza Ground Floor adding another chapter to its expansion drive in Sri Lanka. The Experience Store is designed, with interactive areas where consumers can decide on which devices they’d like. The opening of the new Experience Store paves the way for ambitious plans the company has of expanding its footprint in other locations across the country.
These ambitious plans include opening over 3,000 outlets within the next quarter. Additionally, by the end of this year, the company aims to have 20 island-wide service centres aimed at enhancing its services. These plans, which include the launch of the new Experience Centre come as a result of increasing demand for Huawei devices. Seeing this demand, Huawei wants to ensure that its products and services are easily available.
Speaking about these plans, Henry Liu – Country Head of Huawei in Sri Lanka said, “Huawei has become a leader in innovation and technology by understanding consumer needs. Our main focus is to be the number one brand in the smartphone market giving a total quality experience to Sri Lanka. This strengthens our retail offering and also gives an opportunity for our customers to not only access the very best premium devices, but also smartphones which are affordable.”
Kalpa Perera – General of Manager of Huawei in Sri Lanka added, “The new Experience Centre opening will also give an opportunity to the urban market to further explore Huawei’s quality products and services. We want all our consumers in Sri Lanka to experience Huawei’s brand essence from the moment they step into these stores.”
According to GFK’s reports in 2016, Huawei has gained a 24.4% market share in Sri Lanka. This propelled it to be the #2 smartphone brand in the country. Globally, it has a similar reputation as well. The launch of this new Experience Centre is a simple step. Nonetheless, it goes to show that Huawei is willing to invest in Sri Lanka, with a strong presence across the island.
