1.The vehicle with no steering wheel
What would you do if life literally took away your arms? Well, Samantha decided to build his own vehicle. Years ago, Samantha Fernando fell victim to a tragic accident while working as an electrical technician. Rather than feeling helpless, he decided to build his own mode of transport, one that would let him operate with his feet. This includes a fully functioning accelerator, brakes and clutch, all the essentials for the working model. Although the vehicle can only run at around 20 kmph at a maximum level, Samantha states that this is more than enough to get one’s daily chores done.

2. Smart Boiler
Meet Shashi Sampath, an innovator on Kotiyak Vatina Adahasak with the concept of a Smart industrial boiler. At present, industrial boilers in factories and production plants require manual labor in terms of operation and maintenance. This puts the lives of the workers (and at times, even the entire workforce of the factory) at risk everyday. This is where the Smart boiler comes in. So how does it work? According to Shashi, the implementation comes with the control panel. In the smart boiler, the user would be allowed to operate the machine remotely, as opposed to handling it manually. Additionally as a safety precaution, should the boiler ever come to an over-pressure state, steam would be released and the boiler would shut down. The smart boiler also comes with an app that would allow the user to monitor the whole process of the boiler.

3. Intelligent Solar Tracking System
Supun and his team want to increase the efficiency of power generation in solar panels. They want to increase it by 35-45% to be exact. According to the team, this can be achieved if the solar panels are held perpendicular to the sun rays. Through Supun’s system, the panels are able to constantly rotate and adjust its position via GPS location tracking accordingly. In terms of applications, Supun states that these types of solar panel systems would be ideal for commercial use such as solar farms and even for residential use.

Imagine if you wanted to deposit that spare change you’ve been having for a while. This is where Sunil Jayasinghe’s idea on Kotiyak Vatina Adahasak comes into play. Sunil uses the same principle as one would use to reload a prepaid phone connection, reload cards. The difference here is that instead of reloading your phone, the card will deposit a specified amount to your account. How it works specifically is that you would need to buy a scratch card and SMS the relevant pin to a certain number and your account gets deposited with the corresponding amount, just like in a reload card.
