In the recent few years Sri Lanka has gained a lot of momentum in terms of technological innovation and a lot of innovators who have come up with brilliant technological solutions in order to solve problems faced by Sri Lankans. Yet, we have come across instances where the people who are involved with such projects often give up on their dreams due to various constraints. Taking these factors into consideration, Sirasa TV in partnership with Mobitel, with ReadMe as digital media partners, has decided to launch Sri Lanka’s first ever technology based reality TV show: Kotiyak Vatina Adahasak.
This program will allow innovators from around the country in any age category to participate in a reality television show. The participants will have to submit their ideas and those ideas should have to have an ICT aspect.
The press release event held recently at Trace Expert City was carried out by several heads from both Mobitel and the Capital Maharaja Group. The event kicked off with a speech by Nedra Weerasinghe who is the Group Director – Electronic Media Business of The Capital Maharaja Organization. She mentioned in her speech that with this program, startups and entrepreneurs receive the ability to put forward innovative solutions through ICT. She also added that this will provide the opportunity to showcase these innovations not only to the whole island but also spread the message to the whole world.
Chandana Sooriyabandara, Channel Head of Sirasa TV addressed the occasion in order to explain what the entire program has to offer towards the uplifting the ICT innovations in the country. He went onto say that through this program, the main aim is to facilitate an idea which is worth millions to be taken to a state where it is an organization worth millions. Most of the ICT based global organizations have started off as a seed or an idea which sprouted out of an individual and according to Chandana there are individuals who have such ideas but they do not have the ability to showcase and develop those ideas into an effective business.
The agreements were exchanged between Nalin Perera, Chief Operating Officer of Mobitel and Nedra Weerasighe during the event. Kotiyak Vatina Adahasak will be a platform providing backing to develop ideas using technology to solve day-to-day problems and how that can be converted to a brand to sell to the masses. Anyone who has an already produced ICT based product can apply too. The only thing important is that it must have an ICT foundation.
As the name implies, Kotiyak Vatina Adahasak will definitely make an idea worth millions. It will definitely be exciting for the applicants to be able to be a part of this intiative. They will definitely gain the ability to attract investment for their ideas and materialize what they have on mind. If you possess such an idea, you too can apply through the official website www.kva.mic.lk.
