If you’re a photo and video editor on the go then you will know the struggle of completing projects while moving is not only cumbersome but downright annoying at times. There’s also always the risk if you bumping into something and damaging your precious good. Well that may no longer be the case. Meet GNARBOX, the first high quality editing hardware that can fit right in your pocket.
This is essentially a small box not much larger than ye average external hard drive. Apart from being one, it also has a number of other things up its sleeve. For example, it comes with a 2.2 GHz quad-core processor, an 8-core GPU, 4 GB of ram, 128 GB of internal storage, 2 USB 3.0 ports, a microSD card slot not to mention SD support. With a battery life of around Battery life of around 6-8 hours, it’s also IP67 certified making it dust resistant and waterproof (up to one meter).
This also means that with specs like this, you could also process 4K video and RAW photos. You may also notice that the device has no screen. This is where your phone comes into play. Through the official GNARBOX app, users can view, backup, organize and edit any content stored in the drive.
While editing, your phone acts as a remote display whilst all the processing is carried out by the GNARBOX.
Retailing for around $249, the device is not exactly cheap, neither is it expensive either. You can get one for as low as $149 if you back the project. The final units are expected to ship out in March 2016. The Kickstarter project has more than quadrupled its $100,000 goal meaning that this indeed would become a reality.
