By now you probably have heard of Disrupt 2.0 – FutureX. But in case you’re lost, here’s a refresher. FutureX is one of the newest initiatives under the Disrupt 2.0 name. Organized by SLASSCOM in partnership with Zebra Technologies, this is a competition aimed at university students across the island. The goal of this competition is to help its participants create the next great startup.

The competition has been held for 05 consecutive years since 2010. In previous years, it was known as the Motorola SLASSCOM Inter-University Innovation Championship. This was a massive annual competition that saw over 140 university students participate. This year, the Disrupt 2.0 – FutureX competition entrusts them with the challenge of developing tech solutions addressing socio-economic issues in Sri Lanka.

This chance to present their ideas was at the Disrupt 2.0 – FutureX Pitch Your Idea day. Here the top thirty teams pitched their ideas to a panel of judges. From the early hours of the morning, till four o’clock in the evening, the participating teams pitched their ideas to the judges.

This next stage is the Disrupt 2.0- FutureX Demo Day. This Demo Day will be an exhibition. An exhibition open to the public, where you can see the ideas of the competition in action.
