SEARCC International Conference 2013 comes to Colombo

South East Asia Regional Computer Confederation or SEARCC for short is a forum of national Information Technology professional societies in the Asia Pacific region, which aims to promote collaboration and cooperation among the member countries, one of them being Sri Lanka.

The Computer Society of Sri Lanka annually organizes the National Information Technology Conference (NITC), which is one of the highly regarded ICT events in the country. This year, CSSL in partnership with SEARCC is organizing SEARCC International Conference 2013 with the theme of I3CT – Innovation, Integration for Impact.

The conference is set to come alive today evening 12th of August, 2013 and will extend till 14th of August at the Galadari Hotel Colombo, attracting a large amount of attendees, ranging from CIOs to Software Developers in the local ICT industry as well as from other countries.

The inauguration of the conference is scheduled to take place with the Hon. (Dr.) Sarath Amunugama, M.P (Senior Minister for International Monetary Co-operation and Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning) as the Chief Guest and Hon. Patali Champika Ranawaka, M.P (Minister of Technology, Research and Atomic Energy) as the Guest of Honour.

Publication Secretary of CSSL Yasas V. Abeywickrama today announced to media that the Conference has attracted well over 500 registrants to learn from an excellent line up of speakers. International speakers and delegates from Australia, India, Malaysia and the region are now in Colombo to attend this important event. Abeywickrama said, “CSSL President – Mahesh Perera, Vice President – Ajitha Salgado and the council have taken steps to organize a high calibre conference with international participation. In addition to speaker sessions, the conference also has three workshops conducted by Computer Societies of Australia, India and Malaysia. We are hopeful that this will help the growth of the Information and Communications Technology sector in Sri Lanka as well as the region”.
