Sri Lanka Startup Mission to 4YFN Is Happening


The “4 Years From Now” programme, more commonly referred to as 4YFN is a startup event devoted to innovation in the mobile and digital ecosystem. Think of it as a business platform focused on building ideas and forging lasting relationships for international startups, investors and corporations.

4YFN is a part of GSMA Mobile World Congress (MWC), the premier event for the global mobile industry, with 92,000+ attendees, 4,500 CEOs and 1,800 exhibitors. This year, the 4YFN event expects nearly 9000+ visitors from 70+ countries.

The 4YFN event also conducts several workshops and inspiring talks by those in some of the biggest companies in the world. Previous speakers include the founders of WhatApp, AirBnB, MIT, EventBrite and Arduino among many others. The event will be held from the 22nd – 25th February, 2016 in Barcelona, Spain.

As part of helping promote Sri Lankan tech startups, the Spiralation program of the ICT Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) is planning on organizing a startup pavilion at the 4YFN event.

The main reason behind this initiative is to provide some of the best startups in the country an exposure to the international market and to network with some of the best in the world in the mobile industry. Interested companies can apply to participate in the mission by submitting the Expression of Interest application in the link given below. Please note that this is only an expression of interest and only selected companies will be able to participate in the mission. Please note that priority will be given to startups working on the mobile domain or have developed unique products.

All expenses such as air travel, accommodation, local travel, visa etc. have to be borne by the participating company. Companies who participated in the 2015 event have mentioned that this cost is approximately LKR 250,000.00 per person. A maximum of two people per company will be allowed to participate in the mission.
