Are you an aspiring entrepreneur who wants to launch their own startup? Are you unsure of how to do it? Scared of what to do and what not to do? Well, what if you could learn about it in school? Well, that’s what Startup School 2018 aims to do.

So what is Startup School 2018?

Startup School 2018 is the latest entrant to the startup entrepreneurship ecosystem. Organized by the IEEE Computer Society Branch Chapter of the Informatics Institute of Technology, Startup School 2018 is a 10-week program for inculcating entrepreneurship

The program is open to all A/L students, undergraduates, those running their own startups and those who want to be entrepreneurs as well. Basically, that means it will be open to anyone in the startup and entrepreneurship community. The aim of the programme is to educate and empower the Sri Lankan entrepreneurship ecosystem. As such, the program would focus on providing participants with an overall look of entrepreneurship at a grassroots level.

What can I gain from Startup School 2018?

All those taking part in the programme will have access t a Virtual earning environment (VLE). Here, you can stay up to date on lesson progress, online Q&A sessions, and additional study material as well. In addition, you will also get direct contact with the speaker of the sessions as well. You can also ask them any questions you might have.

Further, you will have the chance to meet successful startup founders during each week of the session as well. At the end of Startup School 2018, in addition to the certification of completion, you will also stand a chance to enter CodeSprint, which is a pitch competition organized by IIT in Sri Lanka.

How do I take part in Startup School 2018?

Well, for starters, you’ll need to register and purchase a ticket for Startup School 2018. The programme kicks off from the 18th of September 2018 and will conclude on the 04th of December 2018. The venue for this would be StartupX Foundry, Colombo 03. Sessions would be held twice a week on weekday evenings. This also leaves your weekend free to catch up with more research topics or to just take a break like you would back in your school years.

Currently, registrations for Startup School 2018 are open. You can register by clicking here. If you are chosen for the programme, you will be charged LKR 5000 as an enrollment fee. Registrations close on the 20th of August 2018. While that may seem like a lot of time, you should also know that only the first 30 registrants will be able to participate in the program. So if you better get a move on or all the good ones will be gone.
