With The International (Ti5) just a couple of months away, we shift our sights a little closer to home: the RLG Dota 2 Championship, organized by Redline Technologies, is taking place. The tournament, sponsored by Gigabyte and Sennheiser, is not only a ranked tournament, but it will also feature a prize pool of over Rs. 250,000: to date, that’s the biggest prize pool ever in Sri Lankan e-sports history. Being a ranked tournament, all match details will transfer over to any DOTA 2 tournament held or endorsed by Gamer.LK.
The tourney’s been running online, mostly at night, since the 5th of April. A grand total of 37 teams signed up and were grilled through double elimination.The top 4 teams in this stage were selected to move onto the Group stages of the tournament, facing the top 4 teams in the country, which come in at this tier via special invite.
The 4 winning teams of this group stage will them face off against each other in the LAN playoffs, which will take place on the 25th of April 2015, in the Lobby of Majestic City, commencing at 9 AM. Be there. If you can’t make it, keep and eye on this space – we’ll keep you updated.
A word on the awards. In addition to the prizes given to the winners and runners-up, prizes will also be awarded to the best support, best mid and the tournament MVP.
