HypeHash. Sound familiar? We initially saw them at AngelHack Colombo 2016. The concept was rather simple.

The team describes HypeHash as the world’s first hashtag monetization platform. It essentially uses trending hashtags from around the world to inspire people to create & sell products. With each user, the feed is customized to his or her needs. Content in the form of text quotes or photos can be taken, edited using over 3,000+ in built templates and can be printed, thus turning them in to novel products.

Designers, likewise, can create unique designs or templates upload them to the platform. Each time a user uses his design template or buys a product, designer gets paid for their templates/designs. HypeHash lists hashtags with short life spans (a week) and hashtags with long life spans (from one week to a month).

HypeHash also has a certain level of Gamification. Design competitions are in place so that a user can compare two sides of the competition in terms of whose side is selling more merchandize and who has more traction over the other on Social Media.

The team behind HypeHash (comprising of Ravihans Wetakepotha, Lahiru Rajapakse, Shan Perera, Vimukthi Liyanage and Shameera Weerasinghe) have been working tirelessly to ensure that Hype Hash grows, and indeed it has.

From AngelHack, we saw them next at Disrupt Asia 2016, organized by ICTA. This was an impressive massive celebration of the entrepreneurship and the Sri Lankan startup ecosystem.

Their ride to fame didn’t stop there either. Building on the hype of HypeHash, the product was also selected to appear at SLUSH 2016. For those not in the know, The Slush Global Impact Accelerator is a program created in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland and many partners globally. The program has two simple purposes. The first is to support startups working to solve the world’s biggest problems. The second is to promote discussions around impact investing.

But wait, there’s more. They have also been selected as the official ambassador for AngelHack 2017 and they have also been invited to appear on the AngelHack Accelerator documentary. Quite an impressive achievement indeed.
